Antwerpen, Wilrijk - Park de Brandt.
AOK 15, KVA A2, Headquarters of the 89 Armee Corps German Army, location 01.
In 1943 the Germans built a headquarters for the 89 Armee Corps. This corps was responsible for defending the Atlantic coast from the Schelde delta down to the north of France. The HQ was divided over several locations in the city.
In the district Wilrijk of the city of Antwerpen, in the city park "De Brandt" near the entrance at the Acacialaan, you find this nice bunker complex. On this complex several bunkers were constructed. Today there still remain two Sk1 HQ bunkers and six Vf bunkers. Under a house just outside the park, at the Russian consulate, there should be an other bunker left, but it is not visible.
One of the Sk1 bunkers is open for public as a museum. It gives a nice look inside this special bunker with a lot of interesting WWII remains. For more information check this website: http://www.bunkerenvliegtuigarcheo.com/
