Near the former village of Knivholt, now adays a part of Frederikshavn, the German Luftwaffe made an air strip. Fore this purpose the Germans built several buildings, hangars and bunkers. In the woods around the estate "Knivholt Hovedgard" ,along the road nr 35 from Fredrikshavn to Hjorring, some objects are left.
