Gravelines, est.
AOK 15, KVA B, KV.Gr. Gravelines, Stp. Karpfen.
South-east of Gravelines, near the area called Barague Mathieu, there are two large 669 casemates visible in a field. Coming from the N1, around Gravelines into the direction of Oye-Plage, at the junction with the D11, take a small road (not the D11) into the fields From there it is a little bit of a search, but eventually you will see the bunkers clearly in the field.
The two St. bunkers, 669 casemates are/were camouflaged as a house, see the saddled roof. The one with the stairs on the outside wall has a Flak emplacement on the roof. Around those two big ones lots of smaller bunkers/buildings were built. Wellblech, small shelters for probably personnel. Two larger Vf. bunkers probably for ammunition. In the middle of the battery is a strange bunker; a Vf. bunker with an emplacement or socle on its roof. There are also 4 open emplacements were the guns were positioned before they were 'bunkered' in the 669's. Only two of the originally four guns were put into a 669 casemate.
