Düsseldorf is the capital city of the German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen and centre of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region.
In Düsseldorf there lived 580.000 citizen in WW II, there were built 20 Hochbunker (HB)(Großbunker) +118 small ones +5 Tiefbunker (TB)(Großbunker).
Nowadays you have 14 Hochbunker left in the town, 6 are demolished:
1. Quirinstr./D-Oberkassel (in ca. 1992)
2. Irenenstr./D-Unterrath (in ca. 1993)
3. Mündrathweg/D-Vennhausen (in 1997)
4. Grüner Weg/D-Eller (in 1998)
5. Weselerstr./D-Zoo (in 2002)
6. Lindenstr./D-Flingern (in 2009)
Dusseldorf - Gatherweg 98.
Used as practise-rooms for music-bands. One of the HB with the largest capacity in Nordrhein-Westfalen for (normally) 5000 persons.
Dusseldorf - Kevelaerstrasse.
This Hochbunker lies on the left side of the river Rhine in Düsseldorf-Heerdt.
It is a church since 1947 and the mostly known bunker in Düsseldorf. The bunker was originally designed as a church and inside transformed in a real church direct after the war.
Dusseldorf / Kaiserswerth - Klemensplatz.
This "house" was the Großbunker Headquarter of the leader of the Police in the region of Düsseldorf at the end of the war from 1944 to May 1945. So it was a military bunker, not a Luftschutzbunker for civilians during WW II.
Direct in the back you see the yellow-painted Hochbunker , this one is transformed in a residential house ,the only one in Düsseldorf.
Dusseldorf / Hamm - Möhkersgäßchen.
Hochbunker in Düsseldorf-Hamm, is built with a camouflage as a church.
Dusseldorf / Vennhausen - Sandtragerweg.
A Hochbunker, nowadays used by music bands.
Dusseldorf / Benrath - Paulsmühlenstrasse.
Hochbunker Paulsmühlenstrasse in the south of Düsseldorf-Benrath, is protected as a monument.
Dusseldorf / Wersten - Reusratherstrasse 1.
This Hochbunker isn`t used now for a couple of years, but can be bought for some 100.000 Euro.
Dusseldorf- Münsterstrasse.
Hochbunker at the Münsterstraße, near Rather Kreuzweg.
This is one of the biggest Hochbunker in Nordrhein-Westfalen with a capacity 5000 persons.
Dusseldorf / Rath - Rather Kreuzweg 77.
The Hochbunker is used by an enterprise on supplying cars with tools, especially exhaust pipes.
The Hochbunker has a remarkable form, on the backside he is half-round, just to give it the form of a church by the view from the sky. He is one level smaller to the HB on the Münsterstrasse.
Dusseldorf- Pariserstrasse.
This is one of the two Hochbunker on the left side of the river Rhine in Düsseldorf, the other on is the church-bunker on Kevelaerstrasse.
It`s not used for a couple of years, but there are plans to transform it into a huge atelier.
