Remagen.
Remagen Bridge.

This is the world famous bridge over the river Rhine, the first bridge captured by the Allies over the so important river Rhine, that gave the Allies a way into the heard of Germany.
The bridge came by accident undamaged in the hands of the Allies, While the Germany's had made some major mistakes. The Americans moved in a very high temp a lot of troops over the bridge to established a bridgehead at the other side. The German's made several attack's on the bridge to stop those massive troop movements over the river Rhine. After about 10 day's the bridge collapsed after all the attacks it had to stand.

You can visit both bridgeheads, at the west side is a Museum located into the bridgehead. At the east side you can see a bit of the train tunnel behind the bridge witch was used as a shelter during the war. Above this bridgehead you can find a plateau with a nice view over the location. On this plateau was during the war some Flak guns situated.

The bridge and it's surrounding are not a real bunker or defence line, but because of is famous point in WWII and the small "defence" shooting holes I found at the bridge I post this item.
Germany, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Remagen.
