At the nord-east side of the city of Den Helder is the former Rijkswerf Willemsoord. This was a Navy shipyard with several docks, storage and maintenance buildings on the yard. Now a days it's no longer a Navy shipyard but an open terrain with all kinds of business activities, art performances and tourist activities.
On the shipyard are left behind in the last decades some air-raid shelters build, by the Dutch towards to war and during the war by the Germans, to protect the workers on the shipyard in case of bombardments.
