Hilversum
Airfield
At the Noordweg in Hilversum lays a small airfield with only a grass landing strip.
As far as we know this airfield/strip played no large part in the attack or defence plans of the German's during the war. Because of the HQ of the German Army in the Netherlands in Hilversum is was mainly used as a airstrip for small airplanes to transport German officers.
Around the airfield there are several ruins to find but hard to identify. At the west side of the airfield, along the crossing Rading-Tjalk is a sand road on which two bunkers can be found.
At this crossing you can find a Vf. personnel bunker and further away in the bushes is a Vf. command bunker (Airfield "Befehlstand") located.
In 2006 this location was at the national TV because a homeless man was living in the bunker. After this situation the municipally of Hilversum closed the bunker and helped the man to another location.
