Hoek van Holland, Koningin Emmaboulevard.
WNB, KVA Dordrecht, Festung Hoek van Holland, Wetterwarte Wn. 18 H.M., Marinesignalstelle Bpt. 17d.

Close to the north pier head stays the current Dutch semaphore, monitoring the ships traffic for the harbour of Rotterdam.
During the war the Germans build a bunker of type V214, Marinesignalstelle, in service for the German HAKO (Hafenkommandent) and besides this bunker was the Wetterwarte (weather services) stationed.
After the war a modern semaphore station was needed by the Dutch harbour authorities and they build a new one on top of the German bunker. In the last decades the building and location  are modified and extended several times. Today, January 2012, the building gets a big make over and more modifications.

During these works some parts of the former German bunker are more or less visible.
