Rhenen, Grebbeberg.
Dutch, Grebbelinie - Defence line from Nijkerk to Wageningen, Dutch War Cemetery.
This location is on top of the Grebbeberg (52mtr) along the Grebbeweg.
During the start of the war on the 10th of may in 1940, this was one of the most important places in the Dutch defence system. The Dutch army, that wasn't as well equipped and trained as the German army, held position for more than three days. In front of the Grebbeberg some light bunkers and others defence works have been built and they had some inundated meadows in front. On the slopes of the Grebbeberg and on top of it additional reception lines where built.
Now a days you can find some bunkers and others remains of the defence works the Dutch had made in front and of the Grebberg around the cemetery over there. To get more information about the battle the Dutch fought here for more then 3 days, read this story on Wikipedia.
