Vlissingen, Ritthem.

This small village lies sout-east of Vlissingen at het other side of the "Kanaal door Walcheren" and is near the most far end of the Landfront.

In this village we found a air-raid shelter, German or Dutch we don't know, and there are two R502 personnel bunkers and one Vf shelter.
The 502 in the middle of the village at the "Louwerse's Wegeling" is a real beauty with a big and heave shrapnel wall in front of the entrances. The owner was willing to open the bunker but unfortunately they couldn't find the keys of the lock, so we had to look trough a small opening in the doors.
The other one at the "Rammekensweg" has on the left and right side shrapnel walls and in the back stays the Vf shelter.

At the south east side of Vlissingen besides the village Ritthem is the "end or start" of the Landfront Vlissingen to find at the former Dutch fortification "Fort Rammekens".

In the dike just before the Fort lies the R700, closed at front side but from the back you have a nice few inside. It's a very rare bunker type and in the Netherlands only build on the island Walcheren. There are not so many more left over of this type of bunker.
On top of the Fort Rammekens are to visit when the fort is open, a Tobruk for a tank turret and searchlight emplacement. (during our visit the fort was closed so no pictures). Just outside the fort there is to visit a Tobruk for a 8cm mortar.

There is all so a huge tank wall nearby with four Tobruk build in the wall with additional shooting holes in the wall too. Start at the R700 and go more or less the east over the "Trekdijk" wish is dressed with big trees. When you cross the main road Rithemsestraat you will encounter the tank wall. You can walk over the wall and when you look carefully you will see the Tobruks integrated in it.
