Vreeland, "Vreeland 1935".
Dutch defence line from 1940, Vesting Holland, Front Oost, Groep Nieuwersluis, Vreeland.
In the village of Vreeland, along the road called Kleizuwe, lies a former Dutch defensive position with the name "Vreeland 1935". It wasn't normal to give positions like this a name in relation with their location. Most Dutch bunkers in this period where seen with a number or year of building.
The main bunker lies on private property and it is necessary to ask permission to enter the site. You will see a Pyramide bunker partly overgrown and a VIS MG-bunker with a nice view over the road that they had to cover towards Fort Kijkuit and Hilversum.
Behind this part lies on another terrain a Dutch air raid shelter. On a open meadow more towards the village on the right side of the VIS-kazemat close to the road N201 lies aother Pyramide bunker, also partly overgrown.
Types:
