Zwolle
Dutch Oldeneel-Haerst line.

At the north-west side of the city of Zwolle, near the big communication tower, there was the Oldeneel-Haerst defence line, made by the Dutch army around 1940.

At this point lies the small river ": Overijsselse Vecht that will come together later with the "Zwartewater". This was a nice location the defend Zwolle fom this side for a probable German attack at the beginning of WWII.
Some Dutch "Kazemats" where built along the waterfront.

During the war the Germans added a tank wall on the dik near the small township of Langenholte . Here you have to go to the "Holthagen" road and then go by foot over the cycle path to the dike with the tank wall.

Noodzetel Provincie Overijssel, PCCV.

Under the building of the Justice Department in Zwolle at the Luttenbergstraat 5, the former "emergency crisis room" for the Staff of the Province of Overijssel is situated.

The normal offices of the Province of Overijssel are in the opposite building of the Justice Department. The building was built around 1977, the Cold War was still going on. The bunker was first intended for use with other Governmental Services like "Rijkswaterstaat with the Rijksverkeers Inspectie" but at the end only the PCCV (Provinciaal Centrum Civiele Verdediging) was located here.
The bunker was designed for about 100 persons and had to operate stand-alone for several days. Therefore they had an air-conditioning system, aggregate and water supplies and a water well. There is also a mobile antenna available, but we couldn't find the place where it could leave the bunker or its fixing point.

There is a very special item on this bunker. It is a "lift-bridge" at the inside entrance of the building at the stairs towards the bunker. By pulling up the lift-bridge a opening exist to lift heavy and big equipment in and out of the bunker. On the pictures you can clearly see the lift-bridge and cable equipment to pull the bridge up.

The bunker will be closed for ever, probably in the beginning of 2010 because the building of the Justice Department will be extended. In the new plans the bunker is an obstacle, and there is no need to keep the bunker in tact, so it will be closed.
