Trondheim, island Munkholm.
WB Norwegen, Heavy Flak Battery Munkholmen.

This location is actually a small island in front of Trondheim. There is a small boat going to the island from the harbour in Trondheim, the trip takes about 10 minutes.

The island has a history of strategic importance and there are remains of military buildings from different periods. The Germans made a heavy Flak battery on the island; 6 emplacements for a 10,5cm gun (one of them is beautiful restored and placed on its original position). The battery received firing instructions from a Vf fire-control bunker, which has still its range-finder on the roof nowadays.

Types:
6x Flak 10.5cm emplacement.
1x Vf Fire control post.
4x MG post.

Trondheim, Lade.
WB Norwegen, Lade.

In this part of Trondheim, north-east of the harbour, are some small bunkers located. The first two bunkers, MG bunkers, lay near the botanic garden and a sports field. The others are on a small hill, in the middle of a nearby neighbourhood (see the GPS for exact position).

The two MG bunkers are aiming towards the inland, they are covering the hill on the back were the botanic garden is located. The 612 is fully covered, the tobruk lies nearby and is overlooking the city. There should be a huge Sk command bunker also in this area but we were unable to find it.

Types:
1x 612 Embrasured emplacement for assault guns without annex room.
1x Tobruk58c.
2x MG post.
Trondheim, Trolla.
WB Norwegen, Trolla.

West of Trondheim, along the 715 towards Trolla and the ferry, is near a oil installation a bunker located.

There are also some huge tunnels going into the mountain, they are modified but maybe of German origin. opposite to the tunnels, down a road leading into the oil installations, lies a small bunker that could be of German origin. It might have been some sort of machinery bunker, there are some holes for cables and pipes going out of the bunker.

Types:
1x Tunnels ?
1x Unknown bunker, machinery?
Trondheim, harbour.
WB Norwegen, U-boat bunkers Dora I & II.

Near the harbour of Trondheim are the three huge bunkers clearly visible.

The Germans had constructed several U-boat bases in France and Norway, this was to provide a safe harbour/dock for their U-boats who had been on patrol on the Atlantic or northern seas. The construction in Trondheim of Dora I started around April 1941 and was finished around 1943. In 1942 the construction of the second bunker, Dora II started and was never completed. Nowadays you can still see the unfinished part of the bunker; without its roof and some parts of the wall. Dora II measured smaller then Dora I; 153x105 against 167x102 so there could be more boats in Dora I.
Today both bunkers are in use, Dora II is easier to visit, just ask at the reception. It was nice to see the dock empty so you can see the real dimension. Inside an employer showed us a German footprint on the floor.
Dora II is fully integrated in its new purpose and there is not much see anymore. Between the two bunkers lies a big red power station, to supply the whole site with the necessary energy.
In front of the bunkers, at the other side of the water, lies two Luftschutz towers (shelters for air raids) and some sort of observation bunker on top of the hill.
Along the road are many post-war buildings created in the rock, they don't look German and are most likely made by the Norwegian army.

Types:
1x U-boat bunker Dora I.
1x U-boat bunker Dora II.
1x Power station.
2x Luftschutz tower.
1x Observation bunker.
