A few kilometers from the Frisian coast are the famous casemates of Kornwerderzand on the Afsluitdijk. It is the only place in Europe where the German Blitzkrieg got stuck in the May days of 1940. Only 225 Dutch soldiers were able to stop more than 15,000 Germans. A story to be proud of.

The increasing threat of a (nuclear) war between the countries of the Free West and the Eastern Bloc led to the establishment of the Air Force Service (KLD) between 1950 and 1968 to be prepared for a Russian attack. The KLD was part of the Air Defense Command of the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
Museum Bescherming Bevolking - MBB
The Museum Bescherming Bevolking (Civil Protection) includes the Bunker complex Park Overvoorde in Rijswijk (Zh) with German and Cold War bunkers, and a mixed Command Post bunker in Grou (Fr) from the Cold War (Civil Protection). The task of the MBB is to make this Heritage visible, experienced and educational as well as to protect, preserve, record and archive.
Come and experience the 450 sqm nuclear bombs that previously housed the municipality of Odense municipality. It was the place where the mayor and the key people of the infrastructure should sit, in the worst case scenario, during the Cold War. The bunker is completely intact and with great exhibitions about civilian preparedness and the enemy from the east.

Seeziel Batteriemuseum Zanddijk
Thanks to Stichting Stelling Den Helder, we have been given the opportunity to restore this unique bunker. The M219 will become part of the Bunker route Den Helder. At the beach entrance near Julianadorp are two impressive bunkers that were part of Seeziel Battery Zanddijk, whose construction started in 1944.

Stevnsfort Cold War Museum
Visit the nuclear attack-proof fortress in Stevns Klint, and hear the story about one of Denmark’s most secret places, which was located at the utmost frontline during The Cold War. During The Cold War, Stevnsfort was a secret part of the defence of Denmark and NATO. The peninsula of Stevns would have been on the absolute frontline if war had broken out between the East and the West.
The foundation manages several locations and bunkers. Bunker Museum Zoutelande, Bunker Museum Vlissingen and Communication Bunker Toorenvliedt in Middelburg.
Stichting Fort aan den Hoek van Holland
The Bremen bunker is the new location of the foundation Fort aan den Hoek of Holland for its activities as the registered ‘Dutch Military Coastal Defense Museum’. In addition to storage, the bunker will also receive the function for education projects, presentations, knowledge center and preparation of mobile exhibitions.
